What We Do
Founded by a dedicated group of arts and culture workers, Culture Workers Education Center is a platform for people to gather, learn, and organize to address urgent issues such as living wages, labor rights, industry policy, and equity in the cultural workplace. We provide direct services to culture workers in New York City and State, and online resources for workers everywhere.
Programs
Our programs focus on building new and strengthening existing communities of culture workers through practical skill-building, resource sharing, and the collaborative generation of new ideas. Programs are free, accessible, interdisciplinary, and participatory. We welcome your proposals for programs or partnerships that advance justice for workers and equity in the cultural and service industries. Learn more.
Fiscal Sponsorship
Culture Workers Education Center offers fiscal sponsorship for projects that share our vision for a more just cultural landscape, worker advocacy, and select artist projects that make labor and workers more visible. You can find more information on fiscal sponsorship, fees, and requirements here.
Resources
We are actively collecting and sharing resources to support arts and culture workers. Ranging from information on freelance labor laws in New York, to directories of other groups, projects, and communities of people working to improve the role, recognition, and rights of cultural workers. Solidarity
In solidarity, we share our resources by arranging private and confidential meeting space for workers in the process of organizing and highlight news, campaigns, and direct appeals from unions, cooperatives, and other groups of culture workers in need of visibility and support. Learn more.
